PGMA to inaugurate several projects during Zamboanga del Sur visit Monday

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is arriving here on Monday (Sept. 17) to launch or inaugurate several projects as part of the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the province of Zamboanga del Sur.

The President is expected to arrive at around 10:00 a.m. on board the presidential helicopter at the Pagadian City Airport where she will be welcomed by Zamboanga del Sur Gov. Aurora E. Cerilles, Pagadian City Mayor Samuel S. Co, 1st District Rep. Victor J. Yu, and 2nd District Rep. Antonio H. Cerilles.

She will be accompanied by Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap, Tourism Secretary Joseph Ace Durano and Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process and Mindanao Super Region champion Jesus Dureza.

The President will lead the inauguration of the Agro-Tourism and Heritage Complex and unveil the Megayon monument or marker at the provincial government complex in Dao, Pagadian City.

She will later on turn over the Notice of Award on the P20-million rehabilitation of the Bobuan-Datagan-Matina-ao Balukbahan-Sigacad Bayog farm-to market road under the Mindanao Rural Improvement Project to Governor Cerilles and Mayor Mary Ann Cartalla of Bayog, Zamboanga del Sur.

The President will also present the documents and ceremonial key of responsibilities over the P25.291-million communal irrigation system of Balongating and Canunan Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur, and the P12.505 million farm-to-market road from Balongating-Goling Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur to the local officials.

She will deliver a speech on the occasion of the launching of the "3rd Biyahe na sa Zambo Sur and Megayon Festival" to highlight the anniversary celebration of the province.

During the anniversary program, the Teatro Sinunday will present Subanon welcome dances such as “Sot” and “T'halok.”

The "Biyahe na sa Zambo Sur" is an annual exposition showcasing the tourism attractions of the constituent local government units of the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The Megayon Festival is a meaningful celebration of peace and solidarity which features the age-old traditions and customs of the people of Zamboanga del Sur.

PGMA leads inauguration of P289-M Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center tomorrow

DIPOLOG CITY, Zamboanga del Norte -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead the inauguration tomorrow (Monday) of the P289-million Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center (ZNMC), a tertiary hospital that would improve the quality of health care services to the people of the province.

Aside from improved health services, the new medical center would also provide affordable and accessible health care to the people of neighboring provinces. 

Under the President's health reform program, the Department of Health (DOH) has been mandated to improve and increase access to health care services, and reduce the financial burden on poor families through the provision of low-priced medicines and universal coverage under the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP).

After the inauguration, the President, who is coming from her visit to Pagadian City in nearby Zamboanga del Sur, is also scheduled to hold a Pulong Bayan with local and national government officials to address the needs and concerns of residents in the province.

Zamboanga del Norte, the biggest among the three provinces in the Zamboanga Peninsula in terms of land area, is among the poorest provinces in the country.

PGMA to inspect P210M Dapitan-Dakak road project Monday
DAPITAN CITY, Zamboanga del Norte -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is scheduled to visit Dapitan City and Dipolog City in Zamboanga del Norte Monday afternoon to inspect an ongoing road project and inaugurate a presidential suite of the world-famous Dakak Park and Beach Resort.

The President would proceed to Dapitan City onwards to Dakak Park and Beach Resort on the last leg of her three-city swing of the Zamboanga Peninsula.

She would fly to Dipolog City after her visit to Pagadian City in nearby Zamboanga del Sur Monday morning.

From Dipolog City, the President will travel by land to Dakak to conduct a windshield inspection of the ongoing widening of the Dapitan City- Dakak Road.

The road project stands to make travel to the world-famous beach resort easier and faster.

Upon arrival at the Dakak Park and Beach Resort, the President will lead the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to inaugurate the presidential suite at the resort.

The President is also scheduled to have dinner and an informal interaction with local officials and media at the resort.

Dakak Park and Beach Resort is located on the sunny white beach facing the exotic turquoise Sulu Sea. The 750-meter private beach is blanketed with pure, powdery white sand. Natural spring water and tumbling waterfalls feed the resort's two pools.

The resort is sensitively designed in keeping with the area's natural surroundings. The native-style cottages are constructed in traditional bamboo and nipa leaves, and feature marble-tiled bathrooms and Capiz shell window panes.

The resort's Aqua Sports Center is a mecca for watersports fans. State- of-the-art facilities include hobie cats, jet skis, water-skiing and deep water fishing.
