GMA to visit Iloilo, Ifugao, Baguio

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is set to visit Iloilo City, Ifugao province and Baguio City in a series of provincial trips aimed at bringing government closer to its constituency.

The President is expected to deliver a speech before government officials, staff and awardees for exemplary public service at the University of San Agustin gymnasium in Iloilo City Monday (June 17) morning,

She will later address the Sangguniang Kabataan (Youth Council) National Congress at the Kalantiao Hall, Barcelo-Sarabia Manor Hotel.

In the afternoon, the President will join the members of the Region VI Regional Development Council (RDC) and Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) who will convene in a joint meeting.

The meeting will discuss socio-economic development and peace and order concerns and issues in Western Visayas.

In the evening, the President will have dinner with Iloilo’s provincial, city and municipal officials.

The next day, Tuesday (June 18), the President will fly to Lagawe, Ifugao where she is slated to award government programs and projects to beneficiaries in the province.

She will join officials in a traditional Ifugao dance. She is expected to wear the native costume.

Later in the afternoon, she will go to Baguio City to preside over the joint RDC-RPOC meeting of the Cordillera Autonomous Region.

The President will stay overnight in Baguio City and will be back at Malacaņang on Wednesday (June 19).

Last week, the President visited Zamboanga City and Lamitan, Basilan where she also convened the joint Regional Economic Planning and Development Board and RPOC meeting of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
